Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can demand from us. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Who is responsible
The controller for data processing on this website is Marouf Adeyemi e.V., Theodor-Fontane-Allee 22, 12529 Schönefeld, Germany, represented by its board. You can reach us at service@maroufadeyemi.org.
We have not appointed a data protection officer, as we are not required to do so. Data protection questions go to the same address and are handled by the board.
What we collect
When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically records technical data in server log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the site and to keep it secure (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
When you use a form, we receive what you type into it: typically your name, email address and message, plus the topic you selected. For donation notices this may include a transaction reference.
When you donate or become a member, we receive the data needed to process the payment and, where you request one, to issue a donation receipt — including your address, since German tax rules require it.
We do not buy address lists, we do not enrich your data from other sources, and we do not sell or trade data with anyone.
Who processes data for us
- Hosting: IONOS SE, Germany. The website and server log files are hosted in Germany.
- Forms: Formspree, Inc. (USA). Form submissions are transmitted and stored there before reaching our mailbox.
- Payments: Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. and PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A. We never see or store your card details.
- Email: Google Workspace. Messages you send us are stored in our mailbox there.
- Fonts: Google Fonts, loaded from Google servers when the page opens, which transmits your IP address to Google.
- Analytics: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics — loaded only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
Where a provider is based outside the EU, transfers are based on the EU standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies unless you accept them. On your first visit you are asked once, and nothing loads until you choose. You can change your decision at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
We also store two small technical values in your browser: your language choice and your cookie decision. They stay on your device, are not transmitted to us, and are used for nothing else.
Why we are allowed to process it
- Consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR): newsletter, analytics cookies.
- Contract or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6 (1)(b)): membership, donations, enquiries you send us.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6 (1)(c)): tax and accounting records, donation receipts.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1)(f)): operating and securing the website.
How long we keep it
Server log files are deleted after a short period by the host. Enquiries are kept as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Donation and membership records are kept for ten years, because German tax law requires it. Newsletter data is deleted when you unsubscribe.
Your rights
- Access: ask what we hold about you.
- Rectification: have incorrect data corrected.
- Erasure: have data deleted where no legal retention applies.
- Restriction and objection: limit or object to processing.
- Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable form.
- Withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future.
Write to service@maroufadeyemi.org and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to a supervisory authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg.
Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 without parental consent. If you believe we hold such data, tell us and we will delete it.
In our programme work we photograph and name no beneficiary, and we publish no case stories. That is a rule of the organisation, not only of this website.
Security and changes
The site is delivered over an encrypted TLS connection. We keep access to donor and member data limited to the board members who need it.
We update this policy when our processing changes. Material changes will be visible here with a new date.
