Yet in many countries, especially low and middle-income nations, people with disabilities face systematic discrimination, exclusion from employment, denial of education, and social marginalization.
Even more troubling: disabled individuals — particularly women and children — face heightened vulnerability to abuse, exploitation, and violence.
